Motor Trade Risks
Cover for the motor trader is not limited to specified vehicles
or specified drivers. By the very nature of his occupation
a motor trader requires to be covered in respect of vehicles
that pass through his hands by way of trade, i.e. either
for sale or repair, in addition to vehicles that he owns.
Although the vehicles will normally be driven by employees
there may be occasions when even customers will need to
be considered as drivers under the policy, as for example
when a customer is permitted to test-drive a new or second-hand
vehicle which he s thinking of purchasing or when the customer
hires a vehicle belonging to the trader.
There is a general division of the business into:
a) Road risks;
b) Internal or premises
risks;
c) Comprehensive road and
garage risks - is a combination of a) and b) with cover
for certain extra risks not otherwise obtainable.
